Environmental Factors Causing Stress in Avicennia marina Mangrove in Rabigh Lagoon Along the Red Sea: Based on a Multi-Approach Study

چکیده

Lagoons along the Red Sea are socio-economically important but most vulnerable ecosystems. Strong evaporation, strengthened due to global warming, leads high salinity and temperature in surface water, which exacerbate physiological stress mangroves. Rabigh Lagoon is characterized by unusually large spatial differences nutrient dynamics physicochemical parameters. We conducted a multi-approach study demonstrate how environmental factors cause growth retardation There were significant variations ( P < 0.05) water salinities temperatures, nitrogen phosphorus abundance sediments, antioxidants mangroves among 8 sites across lagoon. Salinity rapidly increased from northern where seawater enters southern end, dissolved oxygen declined. High (44.9), (28.8°C) relatively nutrients at end of lagoon (S8) corresponded concentrations antioxidants. ? 13 C (?12.4‰) 15 N (4.9‰) sediments S8 also reveal level stagnant camel grazing, runoff bringing fertilizer agriculture activities catchments during seasonal flooding events. Principal component analyses showed that limitation entrance leading for mangrove stress, while salinity, temperature, low predominant

Identification and Analysis of Red Sea Mangrove (Avicennia marina) microRNAs by High-Throughput Sequencing and Their Association with Stress Responses

Although RNA silencing has been studied primarily in model plants, advances in high-throughput sequencing technologies have enabled profiling of the small RNA components of many more plant species, providing insights into the ubiquity and conservatism of some miRNA-based regulatory mechanisms. Small RNAs of 20 to 24 nucleotides (nt) are important regulators of gene transcript levels by either t...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Oxygen microgradients in the rhizosphere of the mangrove Avicennia marina

Oxygen concentration was measured in aerial roots (pneumatophores), horizontal cable roots and surrounding sediment of the tree Avicennia marina (Forsk.) Vierh. in a mangrove swamp at Ao Nam Bor, on the southeast coast of Phuket Island, Thailand. The O2 measurements were made in the field with a polarographlc oxygen minielectrode. The O2 concentration inside pneurnatophores was 63 to 88 % of ai...

Soil and Rhizosphere Associated Fungi in Gray Mangroves (Avicennia marina) from the Red Sea — A Metagenomic Approach

Covering a quarter of the world's tropical coastlines and being one of the most threatened ecosystems, mangroves are among the major sources of terrestrial organic matter to oceans and harbor a wide microbial diversity. In order to protect, restore, and better understand these ecosystems, researchers have extensively studied their microbiology, yet few surveys have focused on their fungal commu...
